We will be your ally on the route.
On our route we have the support of two assistants and a vehicle at all times, providing wheels, tools and spare bicycles. The assistants will also be in charge of technical service, refreshment points throughout the route and the transportation of participants' luggage.
Nutrition and Food. You do not have to worry about anything. The Born sports supplements store is responsible for providing cereal bars, water bottles, gels and electrolite drinks at your convenience. Furthermore, in each stage, we have chosen the best establishments for you to make small picnic stops and regain your strength.
You will always be covered by our insurance in case of accidents or other incidents.
4 Stages. 520Km. 7200mts.
We do not look for the hardest routes, impossible percentages, or big mountain passes. We like another type of cycling: rolling quietly to enjoy every kilometer. Even so, there are three stages of around 135km each and that’s still a challenge. You have to come prepared! Rest assured, these 520 km of sensations, laughter, fun and pure cycling will take time to forget.
Stage 0. Welcome and presentation.
You will receive a personalized outfit and equipment, the tracks in GPX format, and all your doubts will be answered. Then we will fix the time when, on the next day, will pick you up at the hotel.
Dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant or at Astelena, a restaurant in the heart of the old town, depending on your choice when booking.
Etapa 1. San Sebastián - Pamplona
First stage will begin with the handing of the food at the Hotel Silken Amara Plaza in San Sebastian de San Sebastián..
It has 113km with the col de Basakabi, 14km at 6% at the km 50 of the stage.
Once we reach the top, already in Ulzama Valley, we will have a small picnic to recover our energies and we will continue our route among leafy beech forests.
At km 98 we will have our last climb of the day, Col de Markalain, 3km at 3.5-4 % and from there all downhill to Pamplona, where we get to our Hotel Sercotel Leyre to get a nice rest.
Dinner will be served at the Europe Restaurant, in Plaza del Castillo at the city downton.
Etapa 2. Pamplona - Vitoria / Gasteiz.
2nd stage begins with the Col de Etxauri at km 15, 7km at 8%.
We will pass through the towns of Eulate, Larraona... and in Maestu we will have a small stop to recover some energies and get ready to face the slopes of Col de Azazeta, 4.5km at 4-5%. From there we will get down to Vitoria to rest at our Hotel Silken Ciudad de Vitoria.
Late in the afternoon we will taste some delicious pintxos at Bar Toloño, gastronomic emblem of the city. After that we will have our deserved dinner at Restaurante Zabala from the hand of chef Juan Gil.
Rest, breakast and ready for the next one.
Stage 3.Vitoria / Gasteiz - Bilbao.
As soon as we leave, we will face the pass of Zaldiarán, which is very easy - with its 4.2 km length at an average gradient of 4.5% - placing us in the county of Treviño. From there, riding through hilly back roads, we will approach Salinas de Añana salt valley, declared a World Agricultural Heritage where we will make a technical stop at the viewpoint to enjoy its facilities.
The route continues until the Orduña pass at the 70th km, which will be ridden through the easiest side, with an average gradient of 2.5%. After descending this, a small lunch will be served in the town of Orduña.
As soon as we start up again, we will have to climb the last slopes of the stage, which will bring us to the town of Arespalditza. From there, we will finish the last 20 km in continuous descent to Bilbao, where we will take the bike path along to the Nervión River. This route takes us to Hotel Hesperia Bilbao, passing by famous landmarks such as San Mamés Stadium, Euskalduna Palace, the Guggenheim Museum and Zubizuri Bridge.
At last there will be a reception at the hotel, bike storage for all and dinner will be served at the Bistró restaurant in the Guggenheim, where we will have a reception with champagne at the restaurant’s private terrace and enjoy one of the most exclusive sites in Bilbao.
Stage 4. Bilbao - Donostia / San Sebastián
The third and final stage of the Smoothing Road Tour does not start on a bike, it starts at the Artxanda Funicular. Three minutes and we get to the viewpoint of the mountain with the same name, from where we can make some wonderful photos and where our bikes will be ready to face the last 141 kilometers of our adventure.
The stage begins by descending to the town of Larrabetzu and, after passing it, at the 22nd km, we will climb the mountain of Morga, with an average gradient of 4.5 to 5.3%. After descending it, we will be at the gates of Guernika, from where we will head towards the viewpoint of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, the beaches of Laga and Laida and then Lekeitio. At this point and till we reach Donostia, we will not leave the coast side. Passing through Ondárroa, at the 70th km, we will have the corresponding lunch "amaiketako". Then we will go through Mutriku, Deba and the pass of Itziar at the 80th km, with its 4.5 km length with an average slope of 4.2%. After passing through the coastal towns of Zumaia, Getaria, Zarautz and Orio, we are getting to the end of the stage by climbing the pass of Igeldo, with its 4 km at an average of 6.5%. After a continued descent, we will get to The Bay of La Concha, in Donostia, where we end our tour with a deserved shower, and after 520 km of sensations, laughter, fun and pure cycling.
This last night the end of route dinner party will be celebrated at a famous sidreria/sagardotegi with the smoothing tracks members.
